Drill Stem Test Gauge Sub

The AKSBraemar Cased Hole Drill Stem Testing Gauge Sub was designed and fabricated at the request of a customer. The reason for this request was that the Annulus pressure applied at surface does not always reach the Annulus controlled tools, causing a miss-run.

The pressure transmittal to the tools can be interrupted for several reasons. The most common reason is poor quality mud and barite plugging in the Annulus above the Drill Stem Test Tools.

The DST Gauge Sub has been machined to accept the transducer, electronics board and battery pack as an integral part of the sub. The DST Sub continually monitors Annulus pressure while running into the hole, during the well test and shut-in period and after the packer has been unset and the string is being
pulled out of the hole.

The DST Gauge Sub will detect all pressure applied to the Annulus and will identify if the pressure pulses were unable to reach the tools. This information can be used as a diagnostic tool to pinpoint where any pressure pulse problems occur during the course of the DST.

Software Application

All AKSBraemar instruments are programmed and downloaded using software written by AKSBraemar software engineers. The software was designed with the end user in mind and offers Windows “point and click” for ease of operation.

Even after calibration is complete, our Quality Control procedures dictate that the gauge must meet our minimum requirements during the curve fit or it will be rejected, re-inspected, repaired and recalibrated. The AKSBraemar hardware is also subjected to our high standards in Quality Inspection and must meet our minimum tolerance specifications. In addition to a high quality material that comes with full material data sheets and traceability, we also subject the main body of our gauge to a Nitrate coating procedure that eliminates any chance of thread galling.
